Swine flu all over the world. The latest outbreak of swine flu put every one on full alert. Way is it so, why do people are so concerned about the latest outbreak and is it really going to be another Spanish flu?The truth is that the most cases throughout the world have been mild. The mortality rate of people infected with the virus is not more that the mortality rate of those who contracted seasonal flu.
The panic is caused mostly by the fact that the virus is new and therefore people do not have immunity to it which means that, if not, treated illness might become more severe. As of June 2009, there have been over 25,000 confirmed cases, mostly in the USA and Mexico.Over 90%, of almost 150 reported deaths, had taken place in Mexico and the USA.Other countries with high number of confirmed cases include Canada (over 2,400 cases, 4 confirmed deaths), Chile (over 800 cases, 3 confirmed deaths) and Australia (over 1,200 cases, no reported deaths).
In Europe, there were over 600 cases reported in the UK and over 200 in Spain, but there were no reported death cases in any of the European countries.Japan is the country with the most number of confirmed cases of swine flu in Asia which total to over 450, with no reported death cases. Other Asian countries with confirmed cases include China (over 20) and India (over 10 cases). No deaths have been reported in Asia.Africa is the continent with the least number of confirmed cases. There have been only 3 cases, all in Egypt, and not deaths have been reported.
